History
The Floriade event is a World Horticultural Expo. International exhibitions have been staged all over the world since 1851. They offer countries an opportunity to show the world an impression of their economic, social, cultural and technical development. Exhibitions of this nature often leave a legacy in the form of a building or work of art, such as the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Atomium in Brussels and the Euromast in Rotterdam, after the end of Floriade 1960.
Since 1960 the World Horticultural Expo Floriade has generally been held every ten years in the Netherlands:

As a legacy for the Venlo region, Floriade 2012, which is the first Floriade to be held outside the Randstad conurbation, will leave behind an innovative and distinctively green-build business park, called GreenPark Venlo.
