Floriade 2012 relates the story of horticulture using 5 core themes, translated into 5 different  themed zones in the park.

Green Engine - Sustainability
Horticulture is one of the most important economic engines and is also a supplier and producer of green energy. Floriade 2012 will display the entire chain within the sector: from product development and logistics functions to applications and contact with end users. Areas such as bio sciences, life sciences, sustainable energy and the greenhouse as an energy source also fit into this framework.

Design theme
The Green Engine theme element is inspired by industrial designs, machines and motors. It is also a chance to demonstrate the enormous resilience of nature. Even a tiny crack in the asphalt is enough to allow the first pioneering plants to grow through: Technology and nature in a fantastic pas de deux.
